A brand new Tomb Raider game has just been announced and will be developed on the Unreal Engine 5. Crystal Dynamics announced today during the State of Unrea 2022 Livestreams that it will develop the new Tomb Raider.
The announcement crowned a show that focused on today's publication of the new engine, and revealed a number of developers who work on games in Unreal Engine 5, including Xbox, Playstation and many third developers.
As with more and more game announcements these days we know, apart from the fact that Crystal Dynamics works on this, nothing else about this new Tomb Raider game, except that the studio does it now setting for a series of positions. After being brought to help with Perfect Dark, and apparently still working on content for Marvel's Avengers, we do not expect it for at least three to four years. The game is probably just in pre-production.
Anyway, it's nice to know that Square Enix is still supporting the series after a mixed reception of the reboot trilogy, which of people who love the games, to the opinion that they are average.
Previously, Crystal Dynamics had announced to do this mixing the original games with the reboot trilogy if it makes his next game. So we should probably expect a better mix of gunplay and action and crossing and exploration for which the series is known.
Crystal Dynamics is unbelievably looking forward to the future of Unreal and how it will help us to lift our storytelling to the next level. Therefore, we are proud to announce that our next #Tomb Raider game is built on Unreal Engine 5! pic.twitter.com/ufmiwzjazc
