While still behind the two main players, the service sees steady progress.
Those who regularly track streaming, probably know that in this scene just an exclusive war takes place. Microsoft has become aggressive with the financing of exclusive offers for streamer with its emerging mixer service to remove twitch market shares. But there is another player in the game with Facebook, and they themselves see a steady climb.
As GamesIndustry says, the streaming of Facebook Gaming has a considerable increase in the past few year: 102 million total hours in December 2019 compared to 32 million in December 2018 (a huge increase of 210% compared to the previous year). They held a total of 8.5% of the streaming market last month. For comparison: YouTube had 27.9%, Mixer 2.6% and Twitch still held the lion s share with 61%.
While Twitch is still the pioneer of play-related streaming, there is more than enough competition from larger players as you can see. You have different ways to watch how people play and comment on games, and more and more alternatives are on the rise.
